Aranui 5

Built by Huanghai Shipbuilding in China, the Aranui 5 is a cargo liner that serves French Polynesia with a dual purpose of transporting cargo to the Marquesas Islands and operating passenger cruises. The ship was named Aranui 5 rather than Aranui 4 because the founder of the operating business is Chinese and the number four is considered unlucky in China. The Aranui 5 gained international attention when it served as the first floating Olympic village, housing surfers during the 2024 Summer Olympics off the coast of Tahiti.
