MSC Divina
MSC Divina is a Fantasia-class cruise ship built by STX Europe at Saint-Nazaire, France, and operated by MSC Cruises. Originally named MSC Fantastica during construction, the vessel was renamed to honour Italian actress Sophia Loren, who christened the ship. The maiden voyage attracted environmental protests in Venice, with activists warning that the ship's air pollution and vibrations could damage historical buildings. The ship became notably associated with a tragic incident when drummer Sib Hashian of the band Boston died of a heart attack while performing on board.
MSC Divina measures 333 metres in length with a beam of 38 metres, and has a gross tonnage of 139,072. She accommodates 3,502 passengers on a lower berth basis across 1,751 cabins on 17 decks, supported by a crew of 1,388. The ship is powered by GE Power Converteam engines and operates at a service speed of 24 knots.
