MSC Opera

MSC Opera was christened by actress Sophia Loren in Genoa and served as MSC Cruises' flagship until another vessel entered service. The ship underwent a major Renaissance Program renovation that included jumboisation work performed in Palermo, adding features such as a spray park, enhanced buffet, and new child and teen areas. The ship has experienced several notable incidents, including a 2010 cocaine smuggling discovery, a 2011 engine failure in the Baltic Sea, and a 2019 collision with a quay and river cruise ship in Venice's Giudecca Canal.
