Deutschland
Deutschland is a cruise ship built by Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft in Kiel that became widely known as the vessel featured in the German television series Das Traumschiff starting in 1999, and later in its spin-off Kreuzfahrt ins Glück from 2006 until being replaced by another ship in 2015. The ship operated under the German flag from various German home ports, offering summer cruises through Norwegian fjords and the Baltic Sea, while undertaking winter voyages to Asia, South Africa, and the Caribbean, and also served as a floating hotel during the 2012 London Olympic Games. Following the insolvency of its original operator Reederei Peter Deilmann, the vessel was sold to a US company in 2015 and repurposed for the Semester at Sea educational organization under the name World Odyssey.
Deutschland measures 175 metres in length with a beam of 23 metres and a gross registered tonnage of 22,496. The ship offers 288 cabins across 10 decks, with a lower berth passenger capacity of 520 and a crew of 290.
