Ponant is a French luxury expedition cruise line founded in 1988 in Marseille and owned since 2015 by Groupe Artemis, the holding company of the Pinault family. The line operates 11 small ships combining luxury hotel standards with genuine expedition capability, including the unique Le Commandant Charcot - the world's only luxury icebreaker, capable of reaching the Geographic North Pole. Ponant sails to over 400 destinations worldwide, with particular strength in polar regions, the Mediterranean, and remote archipelagos. The line is known for its French culinary experience and bilingual French-English service.
