AIDAsol
AIDAsol is a cruise ship built by Meyer Werft in Papenburg as the second modified vessel of the Sphinx-class and has been operated by AIDA Cruises since its delivery in 2011. The ship was notably the first AIDA fleet vessel equipped to receive shore power from an LNG hybrid barge while docked in Hamburg, and it became the first and only AIDA cruise ship to be commanded by a female captain when Captain Nicole Langosch assumed command.
AIDAsol accommodates 2,194 passengers on a lower berth basis, supported by a crew of 609, across 1,097 cabins and 14 decks. The ship is powered by MAK-Caterpillar engines and operates at a service speed of 21 knots.
