Carnival Splendor
Carnival Splendor is a Concordia-class cruise ship that was originally designed and ordered for Costa Cruises but transferred to Carnival Cruise Line during construction, making her the only ship of this class in the Carnival fleet. The vessel gained significant attention in November 2010 when a catastrophic diesel generator failure caused a fire in the aft engine room, resulting in a complete loss of electrical power. Myleene Klass christened the ship in Dover, where a Royal Navy diver notably climbed five decks on a rope during the ceremony.
Carnival Splendor accommodates up to 3,016 passengers on a lower berth basis and is supported by a crew of 1,150. The ship spans 13 decks with 1,508 total cabins, a length of 290 metres, and a beam of 38 metres. She is powered by Wartsila engines and operates at a service speed of 21 knots.
