Mardi Gras
Mardi Gras is an Excellence-class cruise ship operated by Carnival Cruise Line and built by Finnish shipbuilder Meyer Turku, notable as Carnival's lead vessel of the Excel-class subclass. The ship features the world's first shipboard roller coaster, named "Bolt," designed by Maurer AG and located in the "Ultimate Playground" zone on her top decks, alongside a water park and sports center. Construction delays stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic postponed her delivery and debut multiple times before she began operating weekly sailings.
Mardi Gras measures 344 metres in length with a beam of 42 metres and a gross tonnage of 183,900. The ship has 18 decks, 2,641 cabins, and a lower-berth passenger capacity of 5,282, supported by a crew of 1,745. Propulsion is provided by MAK-Caterpillar engines, and the ship operates at a service speed of 23 knots.
