Zuiderdam
Zuiderdam is the lead ship of Holland America Line's Vista-class vessels, which are distinguished by their extensive use of glass in the superstructure, and features a Venetian-themed art collection throughout the ship created by Daniel Ogier. The vessel was christened by broadcaster Joan Lunden and operates seasonal itineraries between the southern Caribbean, including transits of the Panama Canal, and Alaska or Northern Europe depending on the time of year. Zuiderdam was the first Holland America Line ship to utilize a CODAG propulsion arrangement combining diesel engines with a GE LM2500 gas turbine and Azipod propulsion system.
Zuiderdam measures 285 metres in length with a beam of 32 metres and a gross tonnage of 82,820. She carries up to 1,970 passengers on a lower-berth basis, supported by a crew of 817, across 985 cabins and 11 decks. Her service speed is 22 knots.
