Viking Ocean Cruises launched in 2015 when the company, better known for river cruising, introduced its first ocean ship. The ocean fleet is operated by Viking, headquartered in Basel and privately owned by Torstein Hagen. Viking's ocean ships are distinctive for their uniform design - every ship carries around 930 guests and follows the same layout - and for the line's no-children, no-casino, no-formal-nights policy. The fleet has grown to 11 ships as of 2025 and sails to destinations across all seven continents. Viking consistently ranks among the highest-rated cruise lines in independent passenger surveys.
