MS Richard With

MS Richard With is a hybrid-powered Hurtigruten ship of the Kong Harald class built at Volkswerft in Stralsund, Germany, and delivered to the coastal route between Bergen and Kirkenes in 1993 as the second vessel of the new generation of Hurtigruten ships. The ship served as a hotel vessel during the 1997 Ski World Championships in Trondheim and initiated summer sailings into Geirangerfjorden that are now standard for all northbound Hurtigruten vessels. MS Richard With has experienced two major groundings: one in Trondheim harbor that required passenger evacuation, and another in 2022 caused by a technical system failure.
